The buyside weighs on the best sellside counterpart for U.S. equities - and the results from Greenwich Associates were surprising.

Who were the best reviewed U.S. equities brokers in the opinion of the buyside?


In a survey of 243 equity portfolio managers and small/mid cap managers in the U.S., some important players made the top of Greenwich Associates recent research.


Traders presents Greenwich Associatess 2015 Greenwich Leaders: US Equities findings. In this gallery, youll see that while the first place winners are noteworthy, the spreads were tight between the top three brokerage firms.

According to a press statement, The study results show Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, and Morgan Stanley deadlocked atop the U.S. equity trading business with commission shares of 8.2-8.7 percent. Credit Suisse rounds out the top five with a share of 6.9 percent.

How did Greenwich Associates gather and collate its data? Between December 2014 and February 2015, Greenwich Associates interviewed 243 U.S. generalist equity portfolio managers, 92 small/mid-cap fund managers and 297 U.S. equity traders at buy-side institutions, notes the press statement. The study participants were asked to evaluate the sales, research and trading services they receive from their equity brokers and to report on important market practices and trends.
