ON THE MOVE: SEC Alum Schapiro Joins Morgan Stanley Board

Mary Schapiro is back on Wall Street.

The former chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission was recently named to the board of Morgan Stanley.

Schapiro, was head of the Commission from 2009 to 2012 after her appointment by President Barack Obama.

Schapiro is no stranger to the financial markets and lends instant credibility to the brokerage. In the 1990s, she was the chairwoman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. She also served as chairman and chief executive of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.

Her leadership experience at the S.E.C., Finra and C.F.T.C. brings strong finance, risk management and regulatory expertise to the firm, Morgan Stanley CEO James Gorman said in a statement. The board, our management and our shareholders will benefit greatly from her extensive experience in government and public policy.
