Carroll, a 22-year professional, was a managing partner at Pulse Trading and most recently, as a managing director at State Street Global Markets. Radulski, also from State Street, has spent his 18-year career managing its trading relationships with some of the largest asset managers in the world. Puleo has more than 23 years in the business at Imperial Capital, Morgan Keegan and Canaccord, and also served in leadership roles as a Governor of the Securities Traders Association and as president of the Boston Securities Traders Association.

Wissam Farah will join Nomura in September as head of sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, according to a person familiar with the matter.Farah will take up the responsibilities previously held by Chris Fleming, who joined the bank as global head of rates sales from the Royal Bank of Scotland in 2010 but left earlier this year, according to the source. He joins from Citigroup, where he was head of investor sales for central and eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa as well as head of markets and securities services for the Middle East and North Africa.
BGC Partners has landed John Battaglia as a senior vice president and head of carbon markets, through its BGC Environmental Brokerage Services subsidiary. Prior to joining BGC, he served for eight years as a director in carbon markets at Evolution Markets in San Francisco. While at Evolution, he held several roles of increasing responsibility in the carbon business, most recently as the head of Canadian carbon markets. Battaglia reports to Nicole Shaughnessy, managing director, environmental products, BGC Environmental Brokerage Services L.P. He will be based in San Francisco.
UBS has set up a new global team called Equity Electronic Agency Trading, which will be co-led by Hong Kong-based Laurent Combalot and London-based Chris McConville. The new unit will house Quant HQ, the bank’s quant trading unit, and SwapDirect, a US equity swaps trading system – as well as trading of exchange-traded derivatives. As part of the move, the bank has appointed Richard Webb as head of EMEA electronic trading, replacing McConville, and has also named Sanji Shivalingam as global head of EEAT technology and algos and analytics, reporting into Combalot and McConville. Combalot and McConville will report to Gary Head, global head of cash trading.

With a long career in the fintech industry, Covington has many years experience of growing and developing financial technology companies. He was one of the creators of the concept of co-location; in his previous position as CEO of ITRS Group he was instrumental in negotiating the sale of the company to one of the largest technology private equity firms in the world.
Societe Generale has recruited a new head of Prime Services for Japan – the division which incorporates prime brokerage and clearing, global execution services and cross-asset secured financing. Ramir Cimafranca – a former Newedge employee – has taken up the role. Cimafranca has spent the majority of his career in Japan, having started out as a broker for Japanese Government bonds and EuroYen futures and options in 1990. In 1998, he joined SG Securities Japan (Fimat) as a sales manager for index derivatives and cash equities and became head of listed derivatives in 2008 when the company merged into Newedge Japan Securities. In 2010, Cimafranca became head of institutional sales for Newedge in Hong Kong before joining SocGen in 2015 after the integration of the Newedge business into SocGens operations. In a media statement, a SocGen spokesman said Cimafranca will be based in Tokyo and report to Koji Shimamoto, director and executive vice president of Societe Generale Securities Japan. He will also report regionally to James Shekerdemian, head of prime services, Asia Pacific and global head of prime brokerage sales.
Overstock.com announced changes in senior leadership following the return of company founder and CEO, Patrick Byrne, from a medical leave of absence. Among the changes, Jonathan Johnson, Overstock.coms chairman of the board, was named president of Medici, Overstock.coms group of blockchain technology and fintech businesses. Byrne said that under Johnsons leadership, Medicis initiatives, including t0.com, and investments in Bitt.com, PeerNova and IdentityMind, will continue to grow and innovate while differentiating themselves in a competitive and fast-growing marketplace. Johnson will remain in his position as chairman.
Puma Capital has hired ADR trader David Hegarty.Hegarty, a market professional with over 18 years of international equity trading experience, came from Jefferies where he was responsible for European ADR trading. Prior to Jefferies he was co-head of trading at Kepler Cheuvreux, responsible for ADR trading and building out their US trading capabilities.
EBS BrokerTec Direct, who recently landed Tradewebs Nicole Shumpert, also snatched from Tradeweb Christopher Phipps as its new fixed income trading manager.
