Background/Why: Most broker-dealers and lending agents rely on securities lending data that’s at least a day or two old. More current lending data could help customers improve price discovery, decrease risk and increase profitability.
How It Works: The product updates global securities-level rates and volume information throughout the day, providing evidence of market sentiment. U.S. data is streamed in near real-time.
Prospects/Expectations: According to Tim Smith, executive vice president of SunGard’s Astec Analytics business, intraday movements in securities lending are hard to predict. Having access to lending data throughout the day can help securities lending professionals better understand the market and make more informed borrowing and lending decisions, he said.
