Maxim Group Hires Six in New York

Maxim Group is hiring.

The New York-based institutional brokerage has bulked up its equity and equity -derivatives institutional trading desks by six, Jamie Barker, managing director in the firm’s institutional sales & trading group told Traders Magazine.

“We continue to grow and reinvest in our equity business on all fronts,” Barker said. 

In equities, the firm brought on sales traders Michael Cerussi and Jim Bogardus. Cerussi came from ConvergEx where he worked for over three years. Prior to that, he was with Weeden & Co. Bogardus was with CV Brokerage in Red Bank, NJ. Before that, he spent 10 years as a New York Stock Exchange floor broker with Griswold Company.

The firm hired Justin Lumiere and Michael Hania from MKM Partners to start up a risk arbitrage desk. Prior to MKM, both Lumiere and Hania worked at GFI where they spent two years together.

In options, the firm hired Shawn Diamond and Dan Robin. Diamond was most recently with now-defunct ThinkEquity. Before that he was with Ticonderoga Securities and Kepler Capital. Robin comes from GFI where he spent two years. Prior to that, he worked for three years at Rochdale Securities.

All the new hires will be based in New York.
