Instinet Adds Research Firm McBee Strategic Insight

Instinet is now providing geopolitical research trading ideas from McBee Strategic Insight.

The agency broker has entered into an exclusive research-marketing agreement with the independent Washington D.C.-based research firm, effective today, according to Instinet spokesman Mark Dowd.

"We’re the exclusive sales arm of their research," Dowd said. "People can get the research through trading with Instinet or via other brokers via commission sharing arrangements."

Instinet will provide MSI research through the Instinet Access program, which gives independent research providers outsourced marketing support, account coverage, payment facilitation and other services across Instinet’s institutional client base and beyond.

Previously MSI’s research was available only through the firm’s affiliation with Sanford Bernstein. MSI is led by chief executive Steve McBee. McBee and the MSI team previously comprised the Washington Research franchise at Sanford Bernstein.

MSI provides political analysis and policy forecasts on federally regulated or impacted sectors to enable investors to better understand and anticipate key policy and regulatory developments that are material to investment risk. Its research draws upon its principals’ deep experience with and understanding of the policy development process to provide insight into a broad cross section of policies, including budget and deficit, tax, financial, energy, defense, trade, transportation and infrastructure policies.

Craig LoGrande, head of research sales at Instinet said, "Steve and his team are among the industry’s most sought-after public policy minds. All of the firm’s analysts have served in senior advisory roles in Washington, enabling them to fully appreciate the effects of policy decisions."
