Dahlman Rose Hires Vet In Global Build

Privately owned investment bank Dahlman Rose & Co. announced on Tuesday it has hired a new managing director for equity capital markets as the firm continues its push for global growth.

The new position was created for Stephen Parish, who will focus on the origination and execution of equity and equity-related transactions. He will report to Matthew Rovelli, head of equity capital markets.

“Dahlman Rose has developed a very strong franchise in terms of the natural resource supply chain, and the firm has been growing,” Parish said. “They wanted to add to their capabilities on the capital markets side, for both public and private capital raising.”

Parish noted the firm received an injection of new capital from a private equity firm within the past year and is looking to build out its global business in its core sectors, which include energy, transportation, infrastructure and other industries in the global supply chain.

“We’re likely to see an increase in our product capability and also increase our global reach,” Parish said. “We’re really agnostic toward in which part of the world our client is or which marketplace we tap to raise capital for our client, so we definitely are looking at expansion on a global basis.”

Parish has more than 25 years of equity capital markets experience. Prior to joining Dahlman Rose, he spent two years at Cantor Fitzgerald, where he served as managing director and global head of equity capital markets.

Before joining Canter Fitzgerald, Parish had a brief stint at a hedge fund. Previous to that, he spent more than 20 years at Bear Stearns & Co., holding various senior management positions in the equity and equity capital markets divisions, including senior managing director and global head of the equity transactions group.

Kim Fennebresque, chairman and chief executive officer of Dahlman Rose, said in a statement Parish’s experience and client relationships would provide an ideal fit as the firm expands its presence.

This summer, Dahlman Rose hired Knight Capital Group’s Glenn Starkman as its new global head of sales trading and former UBS Securities managing director Neil Currie as global head of consumer research.

The firm’s co-founders, Ernest Dahlman and Simon Rose, officially retired from the company earlier this year, but both retain stakes in the firm.
