Cheevers Adds Chief Compliance Officer

Agency-only broker Cheevers & Co. has hired Ryan Peterson as its new chief compliance officer. He was previously CCO for Fox River Execution Technology.

A seven-year veteran of the industry, Peterson was at Fox River for just over a year. Prior to that, he spent four years as an attorney and compliance consultant at Regulation Technologies. He was also an investigator for the Chicago Board Options Exchange. He began his career at Harris Bank.

Peterson now leads a three-person team at Cheevers that is exclusively dedicated to compliance, overseeing risk management parameters and monitoring the firm’s trading activities. He reports to Laura Yunger, the firm’s president.

Yunger said in a statement the firm was very pleased to have Peterson as CCO. She said his experience, commitment and knowledge of trading regulation would add to the firm.

Cheevers recently hired Melvin & Co.’s John Barone to lead its trading execution, sales and client service efforts. Earlier this year, the firm expanded into corporate buybacks with the hire of former Northern Trust trader Brett Klein.
