BofA Merrill Adds to Electronic Sales Team

Rod Burns has joined Bank of America Merrill Lynch as a director on the electronic trading sales team, according to a memo obtained by Traders Magazine.

A veteran with more than 10 years of experience in the industry, Burns comes from Credit Suisse, where he spent more than four years and served as director of the Advanced Execution Services team in the western United States. Prior to that, he was U.S. head of electronic sales and account origination at Knight Capital Group. He also served as co-head of Direct Trading Institutional, which Knight acquired in 2005.

In his new role, Burns is responsible for electronic sales for the West and will partner with the San Francisco equity leadership team in formulating and driving equity strategy.

Burns is based in San Francisco and reports to Christopher Leupold, head of securities product sales for the West. He will also have a product reporting line, which has not yet been announced.

BofA Merrill will add another trader in September, when Jason Crosby joins BofA Merrill as global head of portfolio sales and Americas head of execution services sales. He will report to Soofian Zuberi, head of global equities distribution, and Ashok Krishnan, head of global execution services.
