The International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) has announced that its Board of Directors has elected Amy Hong as its new Chair, according to a press statement. She is Head of Strategy, Investments and Partnerships in the Global Banking & Markets division at Goldman Sachs, responsible for leading strategic initiatives for the division with a focus on market structure, systemic and operational risks, and industry digitization. She has worked for Goldman Sachs since 2006 and joined the ISDA Board in June 2020. Hong succeeds Jeroen Krens, who has stepped down in accordance with ISDA’s bylaws following his departure from HSBC.

Aquis Exchange has appointed Thomas Downes as Head of Markets, according to a press release. Downes brings extensive experience in electronic trading. He previously served as Head of Electronic Trading Sales & Strategy and Executive Committee member at ITG and later Virtu, following its acquisition of ITG. He began his career at Merrill Lynch, focusing on technology and product development across fixed income and foreign exchange. Most recently, he was a Managing Partner at fintech advisory firm IOX Partners.
Flow Traders has appointed Thomas Spitz as its new CEO, effective September 1, according to a press release. In addition, he will become executive director of the board, subject to regulatory and shareholder approval. He takes over from Mike Kuehnel, CEO since February 2023. Spitz joins from QuantCube Middle East, where he served as CEO from February 2025.
Virtu Financial has appointed its longtime Chief Technology Officer Aaron Simons as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board, according to a press release. He succeeds Douglas Cifu who will retire as CEO and remain an advisor to Virtu. Simons joined Virtu in 2008 after completing his postdoctoral research in theoretical physics and has worked across trading and technology within the firm. As CTO of Virtu, Simons’s role included oversight of all technology and infrastructure, including the post-merger technology integrations of both KCG and ITG.
The Green Impact Exchange (GIX) has appointed five new board members across its parent company and to the board of the Green Impact Exchange, according to a press release. The board will include Kirk Kellogg, who will represent GIX’s parent company on the exchange board, and four new independent directors—General William (Bill) Bender (Ret.), James Andrus, Maria Mahl, and Oscar Onyema. The exchange expects to appoint more board members in the near future.
Galaxy Digital has appointed Doug Deason, president of Deason Capital Services, to its Board of Directors as an independent director, effective immediately, according to a press statement. Deason will also join the firm’s Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee.
