ON THE MOVE: Capitolis Hires James Kibbe; TraditionDATA Adds Michael Kirby

Capitolis, an SaaS platform that drives financial resource optimization for capital markets, appointed James Kibbe as Head of Structured Funding Origination. Kibbe will lead the origination and execution of a suite of opportunities for banks, asset managers, hedge funds and insurers that will enable these firms to address some of their biggest challenges, including capital, funding, and balance sheet needs, across asset classes. Before joining Capitolis, Kibbe – a 25-year industry veteran – was a Managing Director at HSBC where he served in a variety of roles including Head of Rates, Repo/Derivative Financing; Co-Head of Institutional Sales for the Americas; and Head of Macro Sales.

TraditionDATA, the data arm of Compagnie Financière Tradition (Tradition), hired Michael Kirby as a senior member of the Data Sales team in the Americas. Kirby will report to Chris McGuigan, Head of Sales for the Americas at TraditionDATA. Kirby brings a wealth of experience and market knowledge as a leading professional in the financial information arena. He has joined TraditionDATA following a career spanning over 25 years at Tullett Prebon, ICAP, and most recently at CME NEX, where he managed its Data Services business. 

Intercontinental Exchange, Inc., an operator of global exchanges and clearing houses and provider of mortgage technology, data and listings services, announced that Chief Financial Officer Scott Hill plans to retire on May 14, 2021, capping a 14-year career at ICE that saw the firm expand consistently through organic growth and acquisitions. Warren Gardiner, ICE’s Vice President of Investor Relations, will assume the CFO role following ICE’s 2021 Annual Meeting of Shareholders on May 14. Mr. Hill will continue to serve as an advisor to the company through February 2023.

John Lowrey has left his role as global head of electronic equities markets at Citi to launch a consulting firm aimed at advising fintech entrepreneurs, The TRADE News reported, citing Lowrey’s social media profile. Lowrey left the US investment bank in December after more than five years to become founder and president of Imbrium Consultants. In his updated employment status, The TRADE reported that Lowrey confirmed that Imbrium Consultants would be focused on “consulting to and advising new breakthrough technologies and FinTech entrepreneurs, creating new opportunities from outdated business models and technologies.”

KX, a streaming analytics provider, appointed Eric Raab as CTO, reporting directly to First Derivatives CEO, Seamus Keating. First Derivatives is a leading software and consulting company for capital markets. In this role, Raab will lean on his extensive experience designing and delivering cloud infrastructure strategies as well as leading product development to help drive KX’s growth strategy, including the rapid expansion of its platform across industries like manufacturing, utilities, automotive, and telecoms. Eric brings a wealth of CTO experience gained at high-growth technology companies in a broad range of industries. He is also the inventor on two patents.

Sterling Trading Tech, a technology provider for equity, equity options, futures and digital asset trading, promoted Erik Schmidt to Chief Operating Officer. Schmidt brings over 25 years’ capital markets experience providing leadership and guidance on strategic initiatives to high growth organizations in financial technology and international trading. He has worked with a variety of firms including Gelber Group, Deutsche Bank and Mako Trading managing teams in client services, trading operations and portfolio management. He joined Sterling in June 2019 to lead the client services team and to implement processes and procedures to help Sterling scale and manage growth.
