ON THE MOVE: CAPIS Promotes Choate; Cowen Adds Genovese

Capital Institutional Services appointed David Choate Chief Operating Officer. In this role, he is responsible for all sales and trading functions, while looking for opportunities to enhance the trading capabilities and client services at CAPIS. This move comes at an exciting time for the industry, as outsourced trading, MiFID II, enhanced 606 reporting and general transparency are top-of-mind for market participants.

Cowen Inc. announced that Joseph Genovese has joined the firm as a Managing Director, Head of Delta One Swap Sales. In his new role, he will be responsible for client origination for Cowen’s Portfolio Swap product. Mr. Genovese brings with him more than 25 years of industry experience in Finance and Prime Services. He will be based in New York and report to Matt Baldassano, Managing Director and Head of Global Securities Finance.

Morgan Stanley hired Sam Losada, head of EMEA equity capital markets at Bank of America as co-head of strategic equity solutions, Financial News reported, citing two people familiar with the move. Losada was Bank of America’s top equity dealmaker in London, and he is set to join Morgan Stanley amid a surge in revenues in the equity capital markets teams of large investment banks. His departure from BoA marks the end of a near 10-year tenure at the firm he joined from Japanese bank Nomura in November 2010. 


OTC Link LLC, an OTC Markets Group company, hired Christopher Bok, former Director of the Financial Information Forum, as Chief Compliance Officer. The position was previously held by Mike Corrao who retired from OTC Markets in July. As CCO, Bok will be responsible for all aspects of OTC Link’s regulatory compliance and will focus on coordinating the firm’s program regarding SEC’s Regulation Systems Compliance and Integrity. Bok will report to Michael Modeski, President of OTC Link.
 

Analytics and index provider Qontigo appointed Ping Jiang Head of Multi-Asset Solutions for the Americas within the Customer Experience Group, leading the pre-sales and product specialist team dedicated to Qontigo’s risk solutions. Jiang was previously with New York Life Investments, where he served as Head of Investment Consulting since 2017. Before NYLI, Jiang served at AllianceBernstein since 2011 as a Senior Vice President in two key roles: Deputy Head of Investment Risk and Director of Alternative Investment Risk. Prior to that, he was Executive Director, Head of Consultants—Americas at MSCI since 2010, and as Head of Risk Account Management, Implementation and Portfolio Analysis—Americas at RiskMetrics Group starting in 2003. Jiang began his career at Merrill Lynch.

London-based Odey Asset Management appointed Jos Trusted as Head of Institutional Business. Jos joins from CQS Limited where, as the CEO of the CQS New City Equities business, he led the successful launch of CQS’ long only equity investment business. In this new role, Jos will focus on growing Odey’s institutional business through the development of its product range, the recruitment of new investment managers and the diversification of its international client base. Prior to CQS, Jos was a Partner at Pensato Capital, the UK based European equities business.
