ON THE MOVE: BNY Mellon Adds Perez; State Street Tabs Chakar for Digital Unit

BNY Mellon has appointed Alejandro Perez to the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer for Global Market Infrastructure (GMI). Perez is a market structure veteran, having spent the majority of his 25-year career focused on business strategy at several market-leading firms. In his new role, Perez will work closely with Robin Vince, Vice Chair and CEO of Global Market Infrastructure, and the leaders across BNY Mellon’s GMI businesses (Clearance & Collateral Management, Treasury Services, Markets and Execution Services and Pershing) to help maximize opportunities for closer collaboration and product integration.

State Street has announced the launch of State Street Digital, a new division focused entirely on addressing the industry’s rapid shift to digital finance, including digital assets and cryptocurrency. The new division will be led by Nadine Chakar, State Street’s now former head of Global Finance. Tony Bisegna, Global Head of portfolio solutions, FX sales and trading, and research for State Street Global Markets, will become Head of Global Markets effective September 1, 2021.

Sayee Srinivasan has been named Chief Economist and Head of Research for the American Bankers Association (ABA). Srinivasan will manage a professional staff of economists, data scientists and analysts while building and maintaining preeminent research and data capabilities that allow ABA to serve as the industry’s trusted source for data and analytics. Srinivasan will also provide strategic direction for industry surveys and benchmarking studies on critical issues and coordinate with banker committees and ABA policy experts to identify and respond to the association’s research and data needs. Srinivasan comes to ABA from the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, where he most recently served as deputy director of risk surveillance for the CFTC’s Division of Clearing and Risk.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has appointed Amanda Fischer, Lisa Helvin, Tejal D. Shah, Angelica Annino, Liz Bloom, Basmah Nada, and Jahvonta Mason as members of SEC Chair Gary Gensler’s executive staff. Fischer serves as Senior Counselor to Chair Gensler and advises on SEC rulemakings and interagency work. Helvin serves as a legal advisor to Chair Gensler. Shah serves as Chair Gensler’s principal advisor on matters involving the Division of Enforcement. Annino oversees day-to-day and strategic scheduling for Chair Gensler. Bloom is responsible for drafting speeches, Congressional testimony, and other written materials on behalf of Chair Gensler. Nada directs digital strategy for the SEC and Chair Gensler. Mason will work with the Chair and his senior staff to help coordinate the policy process and assist with special projects.

Christina Di Nolfo has joined Delta Capita as its new Head of Solutions to focus on driving the client technology solutions proposition. In this new role, Di Nolfo will be leading the build of new digital solutions to meet a range of customer requirements, through technical innovation combined with Delta Capita’s managed service solutions and consulting expertise. She brings over 27 years of global experience and knowledge of all aspects of data management, business intelligence, and analytics, transforming business objectives into strategic opportunities, supported by technology.

Deborah Bussière has been named Chief Marketing Officer of Grayscale Investments. She previously served as Global Chief Marketing Officer at Broadridge Financial Solutions, and brings three decades of experience into her new role at Grayscale.

United Fintech has expanded into the U.S with the appointment of Mark Lawrence as Director and Head of Americas. Lawrence joins United Fintech following 14 years at Goldman Sachs in senior sales roles in London, New York and Hong Kong.

Yuval Rooz, Co-Founder and CEO of Digital Asset, has been appointed to join the Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC)’s  Board of Directors. Rooz’s appointment to the Board will be formally ratified at the next meeting of the GBBC’s General Assembly in September. 

Tassat Group has appointed David Koch as Managing Director, Sales & Business Development. Koch will lead the company’s overall sales and distribution strategy to seize market opportunity and meet growing client demand. He will report to CEO, Ron Totaro. Koch joins Tassat from Ninth Wave, where he served as Head of Strategic Accounts.
