ON THE MOVE: Exane Hires Three for Delta One

Exane has made three new hires for its New York office. First, both Amarbir Jawanda and Matt Koren joined the firm from Forte Securities to build out the firm’s global Delta One, equity index derivatives (both OTC and listed), and ETF presence.  A third individual will be joining the team from a competitor in early 2020 upon expiry of his non-compete period.

Jawanda spent almost 20 years building equity derivatives businesses at a number of sell side firms such as Credit Lyonnais, HSBC, and RBC before joining Forte in 2018. Koren  spent 7 years between Citi and Jefferies developing top tier Delta One ETF swap and index/financing arbitrage businesses before joining Forte in 2019.

Koine, the institutional custodian and settlement service for digital assets and fiat money, has appointed former CEO of SIX Digital Exchange (SDX), Martin Halblaub, as Chair of its advisory board, effective January 1, 2020. As former CEO of SDX, Switzerland’s digital assets exchange, Halblaub shaped the business’ strategy, model and core technology, as well as the client and product portfolio, and built the operating company. Prior to SDX, he held positions as Chairman, Board Member, CEO and Senior Executive at international financial institutions and asset managers. He was also Senior Advisor to SIX Group, the Switzerland’s financial market infrastructure operator. Prior to this, Halbaub was Managing Director for Risk Management at LBBW, one of Germany’s largest banks and Head of Global Markets at HSH Nordbank.

Baton Systems, a provider of distributed ledger-based post-trade solutions for capital markets, hired Alex Knight as Head of EMEA. Knight, an FX banking industry veteran, brings 18 years of experience at Citi, where he held various leadership positions in the UK, Asia and Australia, playing a key role in the development of Citi’s Foreign Exchange Prime Brokerage businesses, where he held global responsibility for sales and client coverage. Prior to Citi, he was Head of European Sales at SS&C Technologies, a multinational financial technology company.

Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) appointed Lynn Bishop as Chief Information Officer (CIO). Bishop is a member of the firm’s Management Committee and now reports directly to DTCC’s CEO, Michael Bodson. Prior to this, Bishop served as DTCC’s Chief Development Officer (CDO) and, before that, was Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

CLS, a market infrastructure group delivering settlement, processing and data solutions, hired Deborah Hrvatin as Chief Risk Officer. As a member of the executive management committee she will lead the Risk function globally. Hrvatin joined from Citigroup, where she was Global Head of Operational Risk Management for the Institutional Clients Group. Prior to joining Citigroup in 2017, she spent 22 years with Deutsche Bank, where she held several leadership roles including Head of Operational Risk for the Americas region and the Global Corporate Finance division and Chief Operating Officer for the Global Securitization Group.

G2 Capital Advisors, a leading financial advisory firm, onboarded Howard Lanser as a new Managing Director and Head of Capital Markets. Lanser will oversee G2’s extensive capital markets platform, partnering with Louise Roussel, Director of Capital Markets in enhancing the firm’s execution of complex financings for our clients. He brings over 20 years of capital markets experience and most recently  served as Managing Director, Co-Head of Debt Advisory for Robert W. Baird & Co.

Incapital LLC, a leading underwriter and distributor of fixed income securities, landed William White as a new Managing Director, Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMBS), reporting to Co-Heads of Fixed Income George Holstead and Laura Elliot. White will be based in Boca Raton and joins from Raymond James & Associates, where for ten years he served as a Managing Director and Head of CMBS Trading, responsible for overseeing the firm’s efforts in the CMBS market, as well as their Commercial Real Estate (CRE) and Collateralized Debt Obligation (CDO) businesses.  Prior to Raymond James, he  worked as a Director of CMBS and CRE CLO Trading at Wachovia Capital Markets and as an Associate specializing in Residential Mortgage Securitization at Bank of America Securities.

Optima Partners, a global financial regulatory compliance advisory firm, appointed Joshua Mika, Partner, as the head of the newly established Chicago office and the Midwest Practice Leader. In this role, Mika will be responsible for all aspects of service delivery to Broker Dealers, Registered Investment Advisers, Hedge Funds, Commodity Pool Operators, Commodity Trade Advisors, Credit Firms, and Wealth Management clients in the Midwest. He joined Optima in 2016 as a Director supporting a broad range of credit, HF and PE clients. He is a long-time compliance veteran having worked at several firms including Lehman Brothers, Perella Weinberg, Tiedemann Wealth Management, and Achievement Asset Management (a spinoff of PEAK6).

Chapwood Investments has announced the formation of a sister broker-dealer organization, Chapwood Securities, Inc., and has named Ben Fujihara and Jeff Spears as members of its executive management team. Both are new members of Chapwood Investments’ senior management.  Ed Butowsky, Chapwood Investments founder and CEO, will also lead Chapwood Securities. Fujihara and Spears, who will both serve as managing directors, recently joined Chapwood from Morgan Stanley and Sanctuary Wealth Management.
