Aqua Hires a Quartet of Sales Pros

Aqua Securities recently hired four new people to its institutional sales team. 

The alternative trading system's new team members include: Lauren Sbordone, formerly of NYSE Group; Beth Hamburger and Robert Smock, both from Bloomberg Tradebook and Jamie Petraglia, an ITG alumnus. All joined as senior Institutional Sales Managers.

The four will focus on increasing Aqua's block trading business, according to Kevin Foley, the system's chief executive.

"The addition of these talented individuals demonstrates our commitment to providing clients access to a market that enables traders find the price at which a large block will trade," Foley said. "As we continue to build our business and expand our offerings, their considerable experience and expansive network will bring immediate value to our institutional clients. Their in-depth understanding of the industry and commitment to client service make them ideal additions to the Aqua team."

Sbordone is focused on running Aqua's broker-dealer business. a 14 year vet, she worked at Archipelago Holdings until its acquisition by NYSE Group, serving as a director managing a diverse account base and focused on client relationships. She was also a broker with Quick & Reilly Inc. 

Hamburger is charged with growing clients in the Northeast region. A 16 year pro, she was a founding member and senior sales and relationship manager at Bloomberg Tradebook where she managed institutional relationships across multi-asset classes covering broker-dealers and registered investment advisors. She has also served as a director at the Security Traders Association of New York since 2006. 

Petraglia is focused on building buyside relationships on the West Coast. He comes from ITG where he was a director and led a sales trading team and developed a new trading system for institutional clients. Prior to that, he was a founder and managing director at White Cap Trading, a co-head of trading at Archipelago Holdings and a sales trader at Bear Hunter Specialist.

Smock handles clients in the Midwest and New York region. A 5-year professional, he comes from Bloomberg Tradebook, where he was an institutional equity and account manager. Before that he was a  financial advisor at Merrill Lynch focused on business development. He has also held a number of positions at Refco.

All four report to Dave Frisone, Aqua's head of sales.
