The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679 is a regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy for all individuals within the European Union. It addresses the export of personal data outside the EU.
Jamie Graves, CEO & Founder of ZoneFox said that the big green button has been pressed and GDPR is a go; now comes the real test. Many companies will have spent months looking to get their data and supporting processes in order for today, but GDPR is not just about May 25; the onus is on companies to be compliant not just today, but in six months, a year, two years and more.
“As such, the question businesses need to be asking themselves now is, how do we stay compliant,” Graves said. “Organizations - very literally - can't afford to stand still. They have to continue to evolve their policies and procedures; hone and refine them. But most of all they have to ensure they have absolute visibility into their data. Without that transparency, ongoing compliance gets a lot harder.”
