This week Traders Magazine looks back to 2011, a year that marked the beginning of the Arab spring to the death of Osama bin Laden. The year was filled with landmark events the world over.

Some of the biggest news stories from the around the globe included a plane crash in Russia that killed most of the members of a Kontinental Hockey League team, including Canadian coach Brad McCrimmon and former Vancouver Canuck star Pavol Demitra.

But the most popular story was the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan's east coast in March, sending waves as high as seven meters and black water surging inland. The natural disaster left roughly 23,000 people dead or missing and triggered a nuclear crisis at Japan's damaged Fukushima power plant.

Almost equally important to the Western Hemisphere was the death of Osama Bin Laden - killed in a raid by US special forces bringing and end to a 10-year manhunt.

Against this back drop, the Los Angeles Security Traders Association held its 26th Annual Convention at La Quinta Resort & Spa, La Quinta, California on May 5th.
