ON THE MOVE: ITI Nabs KCG’s Manca; Cantor Hires Prime Head

Elio Manca, formerly head of KCG's ETF sales in Europe who spent six years at the firm before departing last year before the Virtu deal, has just taken a role as a managing director and head of sales and business development at ITI Funds. ITI Funds is a Russian fund platform that offers a range of emerging markets ETFs. Manca joined KCG Holdings in March 2010 after nearly six years at Citigroup, where he was a director in equity derivative sales. Before that, he spent close to seven years in equity derivative sales at Morgan Stanley.

Ilya Ustilovsky, the former head of ETF quantitative research at KCG Holdings, joined Two Sigma in September as a senior vice president within its New York operation. He previously spent over eight years at KCG, having joined from UBS in 2009, where he was an executive director and quant researcher within its electronic volatility group. Ustilovsky was co-head of options market making at KCG until 2013, when he moved into his role heading up ETF quant research within its customer market making unit.

Goldman Sachs has hired Nick Baltas as the head of research and development for its systematic trading strategies (STS) group. Baltas previously spent over four years at the UBS quantitative research unit in London. He will report to Tom Leake, global head of the STS sales strategy team, The Goldman STS group builds indices and strategies for all products traded within the bank’s securities division globally, using a proprietary platform across asset classes and geographical regions.

William Blair has announced Stephanie Braming, CFA will lead the William Blair Investment Management (WBIM) business. She will join the firm’s executive committee and will be based in Chicago. As global head of Investment Management, Braming will be responsible for the strategic direction of the business. Ms. Braming was most recently a portfolio manager for the William Blair International Small Cap Growth and William Blair International Growth strategies. In this role, she had responsibility for nearly $20 billion of client assets.

Former Bank of America Merrill Lynch executive Jon Yalmokas has joined Cantor Fitzgerald as the firm’s global head of prime brokerage. New York-based Yalmokas was set to join Canadian bank RBC earlier this summer to build out the company’s financing business for investment managers. However, a statement on Monday confirmed a move to Cantor for the executive who was head of Americas prime brokerage at BAML from 2011 until this year.
