ON THE MOVE: Empire Grabs O’Connor as Head of Fixed Income

Empire Securities announced the arrival of Christopher O’Connor as President. O’Connor, the former Managing Director of Capital Markets and Investment Banking at Incapital, will lead the company’s fixed income business. O’Connor, who will be based in the company’s New York headquarters, will oversee the build out of its institutional sales and trading capabilities, most notably the debt capital markets and other specialty finance groups. He will also lead efforts to grow the firm’s relationships with upper tier financial institutions. In addition to Incapital, O’Connor has held leadership positions at Pierpont Securities and Bear Stearns. His early career was spent as a corporate bond trader at JP Morgan Chase, First Boston and Salomon Brothers.

The firm also recently landed industry veterans Thomas O’Neill, a founding principal of the investment banking and brokerage firm Sandler O’Neill + Partners, and Edward LaScala, who formerly led the institutional sales group at Incapital.

CloudMargin, creator of a web-based collateral and margin management solution, announced that Martin Adams has joined the firm’s senior leadership team as Head of Client Operations. Adams is a 26-year veteran of derivatives operations, with extensive experience in over-the-counter (OTC) and listed derivatives, as well as fixed income and foreign exchange (FX) products. In this new role, Adams will be responsible for leading CloudMargin’s pre-sales support, onboarding and ongoing client support functions. Prior to joining CloudMargin, Adams spent more than two years at Lombard Risk and was Vice President, EMEA Derivative Clearing Operations for J.P. Morgan. He also served at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in 2005, where he spent nearly nine years, including five as Vice President, EMEA FX Operations and then several years as Vice President, EMEA OTC Clearing.

Siebert Cisneros Shank & Co., a minority- and woman-owned investment bank, announced that 12-year investment banking veteran Jason Teeters has joined the firm as Senior Managing Director in the Corporate Finance and Capital Markets division. In his new role, he will provide primary coverage responsibility for large- and mid-cap corporate issuers across multiple industries, lead the firm’s strategic advisory platform and take responsibility for the training and development of its junior bankers. Teeters joins SCSCO from Barclays, where he had worked since 2005, serving as a Director in its Investment Banking Division.  At Barclays, he was a senior coverage officer, leading Barclays’ global efforts with mid- and large-cap public and private clients as part of its Global Consumer Retail team. Teeters will report to John Rhea, who was named President of SCSCO’s Corporate Finance and Capital Markets division in June. 

BOX Options Exchange named Sean Flynn and Jack Sandner to the Exchange Board of Directors. Flynn is Co-Head of Options Trading at Two Sigma Securities LLC, and previously was Vice President and Head of Trading at Timber Hill LLC. Sandner is a former longtime Chairman of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, now the CME Group.
