ON THE MOVE: Dolfin Tabs Gray as Investment Head; Dash Grabs CS Alum Doherty

Dolfin, an independent wealth management platform, appointed Richard Gray as Head of Investment Management, a newly created role within the firm. In this new position, Gray will lead Dolfin’s investment team and further strengthen its asset management capabilities. He came from ACPI, where he was Co-Head of Institutional Wealth Management. Before ACPI, he was at Credit Suisse where he was the head of the Special Situations team and co-head of the Multi-Asset Group. Prior to that, Gray was an investment analyst at Credit Suisse and UBS. He managed the utilities research franchise at Credit Suisse and was co-head of UBS’s top-ranked utilities equity research team. Previously, he was co-head of UBS’s software & services equity research team.

Dash Financial Technologies snagged another capital markets veteran – James Doherty. Doherty as the firm’s new Managing Director, Head of Equity Product. He spent the last 20 years at Credit Suisse, where he co-founded the Advanced Execution Services (AES) electronic trading platform and managed the day-to-day product development of its algorithmic equities trading business. Prior to joining the AES group, he worked in the firm’s Equities Proprietary Trading, Fixed Income, and IT divisions. Most recently Doherty was Managing Partner of a machine learning-driven investment firm he co-founded.

Geospatial Insight, a provider of independent research, hired financial services industry and quant community veteran Steve Wilcockson. He will be responsible for client-facing activities for all Geospatial Insight Finance Sector products and will lead product management. Wilcockson was formerly Global Industry Manager for Financial Services at the engineering software company MathWorks, developers of MATLAB™, where he worked for over 20 years among model builders and implementers including quants, quant developers, economists, actuaries, algo traders, portfolio managers and risk managers.

Morningstar, Inc. hired Mark Roomans as its new Head of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). In this newly created role, Roomans, who served as Chief Executive Officer for Morningstar UK, will establish an executive team for EMEA to drive growth in the region. Roomans joined Morningstar in 2001, prior to which he was a quantitative analyst at JPMorgan Investment Management and Mercury Merrill Lynch Asset Management. He was previously Chief Operating Officer of Morningstar Europe and co-Chief Executive Officer of Morningstar Australia.
