Staff Reports

Getco today named former UBS veteran Daniel Coleman as the market maker's new chief executive officer.

Company co-founders Stephen Schuler and Dan Tierney will continue to serve on Getco's board of directors, with Schuler assuming the newly created title of executive director. Coleman, a 25-year veteran, had been the global head of equities and client services at Getco since joining the firm in 2010.

"Stephen and Dan built an amazing firm that has been a catalyst for positive change in the financial markets for the last 12 years," Coleman said. "I look forward to building upon this tradition of excellence and innovation."

Prior to joining Getco, Coleman was global head of equities for UBS and served on the executive committee of its investment bank. He began his career at O'Connor & Associates, a trading firm focused on options market making that later became part of Swiss Bank Corporation. SBC in turn merged with UBS in 1998.

As CEO, Coleman will focus on enhancing Getco's core market-making business and continuing to expand the firm's client services offerings in the U.S. and abroad.
