TRADING UP: JonesTrading Snags Rivellli and Trimmer; Cabrera Blooms

Cabrera Capital Markets, a Hispanic-owned broker-dealer, expanded its Americas trading team with the addition of Jonathan Bloom to its Chicago office as Vice President. Bloom brings 13 years of experience in equity capital markets and will focus on ETFs. He most recently worked with MKM partners where he was an Executive Director, Sales Trading covering institutional clients across the US. Previously, Bloom held Sales Trading roles at TJM Investments, Bear Stearns and Deutsche Bank.

Block trading firm JonesTrading hired six equity trading industry veterans to its Cos Cob and Southampton offices. The move allows JonesTrading to add to its existing capabilities in both single stock and program trading. The Cos Cob team is now led by Todd Trimmer and Doug Rivelli, both named Managing Directors. Trimmer previously served as Co-CEO of Weeden & Co. LP, and Head of Equities at Guggenheim Partners, LLC and Auerbach Grayson and Company, LLC.

Rivelli has served as Head of Program Trading at Weeden & Co. LP and CEO of Pragma Securities LLC. They will be covering accounts for both single stocks and programs and are joined by Jack Duffy and Gary Zegras, who both also had senior roles at Weeden, Guggenheim and Auerbach Grayson.

In Southampton, Chip Renkowski and Bryan Klopfer joined. Both have over 16 years sales trading experience at Knight/KCG Holdings, Inc. before briefly working at Auerbach Grayson.

Greg Tusar, the electronic trading head at KCG, has departed the firm, according to a regulatory filing. His departure was part of the firm’s sale to Virtu Financial for $1.4 billion. Tusar, a market veteran, was head of electronic execution and platforms at KCG, responsible for sales, products and platforms globally. He joined KCG in 2013 after 13 years at Goldman Sachs, where he was partner and head of electronic equities trading. According to a KCG filing, he was eligible for $6.9 million in cash and stock upon termination of his position.

HFT pioneer and one-time voice of the latency sensitive trader, Manoj Narang, has founded a new company, MANA Tech LLC. He had been out of the market since 2014 when he left Tradeworx, an HFT  firm he founded in 1999. He started his career at Goldman Sachs in 1997 in stat arb.

Chuck Lugay for starting a new position as Managing Director at Clearpool Group. A veteran with 20 years of experience, Lugay most recently was with Citadel as a senior vice president. He also has served as past president of the Security Traders Association of New York. Lugay also spent seven years at Knight as a Director and Managing Director. He began his Wall Street career at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter.

BTIG grew its Global Institutional Equities business by adding Simon “Sid” Martin as Managing Director in London. Martin will focus on cultivating new business and enriching existing client relationships. Prior to BTIG, he spent eight years as a Director within the Equity Sales and Trading Group at Barclays. Martin began his financial services career in the Credit Trading Group, specialising in collateralised debt obligation, at Morgan Stanley..
