ON THE MOVE: ITG, BTIG Add Staff; CS Loses Global Equities Chief

ITG hired Tom Cesare as a Director on its U.S. Electronic sales team in New York. Cesare, a 20-year industry veteran, served most recently at JP Morgan as Executive Director on the Prime Services sales team. At JP Morgan, Cesare also held electronic sales roles within the Execution Services division across Equities, Futures and Options. Prior to JPMorgan, he held a number of positions in electronic sales, trading and operations at firms including FTEN, HSBC Securities and Credit Suisse Group.

BTIG announced that Sung Ji Nam has joined the firm’s Equity Research team as a Director. Based in BTIG’s New York office, she will provide coverage of the life science and diagnostic tools sector. Nam has more than ten years of experience conducting life science and diagnostic tools equity research. Prior to joining BTIG, she was a Senior Analyst at Avondale Partners. She held similar roles at Cantor Fitzgerald and Gleacher & Company. Nam began her equity research career at JP Morgan, covering life science tools, diagnostics, small to mid-cap medical technology, and pharmaceutical services companies.

In Europe, BTIG Limited, the European affiliate of BTIG, expanded its Outsource Trading capabilities with the appointment of Balraj “Raj” Briah. He joins as a Managing Director and Head of European Outsource Trading in London. Prior to BTIG, he was a Senior Equities Trader within the Outsource Sales and Trading Group at CF Global. Previously, Briah was Head of Middle Markets Sales Trading at Citigroup. He held similar roles within the Equity, Cash and Portfolio Trading Groups at Nomura and The Bank of New York. Briah began his career on the buy side as a Global Equity Trader at Deephaven Capital and M&G Investments. 

Credit Suisse has parted ways with its global head of equities, Mike Paliotta. At Credit Suisse, he was a Managing Director of Credit Suisse in the Investment Banking division, based in New York. He also served as the firm’s Global Head of Prime Services. Prior, Paliotta served as Co-Head of Equities Americas. He joined Credit Suisse in November 2000 when the Bank merged with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, where he was a Director in the Institutional Equities group. Prior to that, he was a Managing Director at Neuberger Berman and had also worked at Spears, Benzak, Salomon and Farrell.
