Bloomberg Unveils New Terminal

Traders Magazine Online News, February 27, 2012

Staff Reports

Bloomberg announced today the latest version of its Bloomberg Professional terminal, which consolidates and integrates the company's data, news and analytics services. It features a more powerful search engine with a streamlined menu listing, as well as greater uniformity across asset classes and functions.

Dubbed Bloomberg NEXT, the new terminal is the result of a multi-year design process by a team of more than 3,000 technologists. The upgrade aims to facilitate user productivity by making navigation more intuitive. It will now be available globally at the same cost as the previous incarnation of Bloomberg Professional.

More than 100,000 clients have already converted to Bloomberg NEXT, and the company has kicked off a campaign to move all its customers to the product by the end of the year.

"Business and financial professionals need to synthesize astounding amounts of information to make intelligent investment decisions," said Tom Secunda, Bloomberg LP's co-founder, vice chairman and head of the company's financial products and services division. "We have redesigned the terminal to ensure that our clients get the best, fastest and most insightful answers."

Jean-Paul Zammitt, global head of product strategy and development for Bloomberg Professional, added that the advancements came from strong partnerships with clients, many of whom volunteered to allow Bloomberg to review the keystrokes and commands they most commonly used.
