The McDermott-Holland Inaugural Cape Cod Striper Challenge

By Staff Reports

A full field of amateur and professional fishermen entered the inaugural event that left the Chatham, Mass. dock at 6 a.m. The four-hour contest, using only light tackle and artificial bait, went down to the last half-hour, when Matt Holland landed a 40-pound striper to win the top prize. His older brother, Tim, took the honors for most fish caught, placing second. Traders Magazine Publisher Ken Heath verified Matt and Tim's haul, but declined comment regarding his catch, or lack of same.
