Bryan Lonsinger joined Janney Montgomery Scott as a managing director and head of equity position trading in Philadelphia. Lonsinger joins the firm after 10 years at Citi, most recently as the senior trader covering the consumer sector. Prior to Citi, Lonsinger held trading positions at Credit Suisse and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. He reports to Jeffrey Woodford, Janney's head of equity trading, who formerly headed sales trading at Citi.

 


 

Robert Kissell joins the electronic trading department at UBS. He is responsible for analytic products and works in New York and Stamford, Conn. He reports to Tim Gee and Owain Self. Kissell was mostly recently with JPMorgan as head of quantitative trading strategies. He spent six years at JPMorgan after stints at Citi and Instinet.

 


 

Nomura Securities International named four industry pros to run program trading.

Joe Sokolowski joins to head principal risk trading. He joins Nomura from Merrill Lynch, where he ran centralized risk and portfolio risk trading. Earlier, Sokolowski spent 13 years at Citigroup in a similar role and in single-stock structured derivatives. Mark Govoni joins to head U.S. program sales trading and index analytics. Govoni previously spent eight years at Merrill Lynch in agency and risk trading. William O'Brien joins to lead the quantitative advisory effort, and continues in his role as a sales trader. Prior to joining Nomura, O'Brien worked on the portfolio trading desk at JPMorgan after 11 years managing quantitative investment strategies on the buyside. Gerald Casey joins to head the international portfolio sales team in New York. Prior to Nomura, Casey spent six years at Barclays Capital/Lehman Brothers in portfolio sales.

 


 

Drew Miyawaki was promoted to head Liquidnet's European trading desk in London. An 11-year veteran who joined Liquidnet in 2007, Miyawaki is responsible for managing the firm's London-based traders and expanding trading coverage in the Asian and Australian markets. Prior to joining Liquidnet, Miyawaki was a portfolio trader at Jefferies & Co. Miyawaki reports to John Barker, head of Liquidnet Europe.

 


 

Steve Hughes joins Exegy as a director of sales in New York. Hughes, a 28-year industry veteran, was previously with NYSE Euronext, where he spent 10 years as a managing director in sales and client relations. A former market maker who later worked at the ECN Strike Technologies, Hughes has migrated to the business of high-frequency trading. Exegy's clients are firms that require ultra-low latency from their market data feeds.

 


 

Tony Seker joins TrimTabs Investment Research in New York as director of sales and marketing. Seker, a 20-year veteran, was previously director of sales with Cogent Consulting. TrimTabs is a provider of market liquidity, using supply and demand information for stocks to help institutions better time the market.

 


 

Nomura Securities International recruited five JonesTrading pros to staff its recently formed U.S. convertible bond desk. A sixth person was hired from CIBC World Markets.
