*M.R. Beal & Company, a New York investment bank, hired two traders for its equity sales and trading group in Chicago. Dennis Ignarski joined as a senior vice president. Christopher Kingseed joined as a vice president. Both execs report to Donna Sims Wilson, the new head of equity sales and trading. All three execs joined from Loop Capital Markets.

*Deborah Mittelman joined SunGard/BRASS as senior vice president of compliance and product management. Mittelman, a 20-year industry veteran, was most recently technology compliance officer at Instinet.

*Emanuel Garofalo joined Paris Securities as a floor broker at the New York Stock Exchange. Garofalo previously worked as a trader for RBC Capital Markets and Goldman Sachs.

*Michael Maloney joined Fulcrum Global Partners as head of U.S. equity trading. He replaces Alan Leist who recently quit Fulcrum. Maloney was formerly a Nasdaq trader at Banc of America Securities since 2003.

*Jim Carruthers joined Thomas M. Morrissey, Jr., an independent floor brokerage at the New York Stock Exchange. Carruthers was previously a trader with Rock Island Securities. That firm shut down its NYSE operation.

*Martin Durkin joined Meridian Equity Partners as a trader on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. Durkin was previously with Boston Institutional Services, which was recently acquired by the Bank of New York.

*Ken Hight joined E*Trade Financial as executive vice president of the capital markets department. Hight was most recently CEO and president of ITG Canada, a unit of Investment Technology Group. Prior to ITG, Hight ran institutional equities at TD Securities for seven years.

*Tim Gee joined UBS as head of program trading sales for the Americas. Gee reports to David Panagrossi, head of institutional sales trading. Gee joins UBS from Morgan Stanley where he was US head of program trading and transition management.

*Jim Fehrenbach was named managing director and head of institutional equity sales and sales trading at Piper Jaffray. Fehrenbach previously ran Nasdaq trading at Piper. The position is a new one, combining the positions of head of sales trading and the head of research sales. Fehrenbach is a 16-year industry veteran and member of the Securities Industry Association's trading committee. He has been with Piper since 1995. Brad Pleimann is now head of both Nasdaq and listed trading at Piper.

*Aaron Hantman was named head of SIG Specialists, a unit of Susquehanna International Group and a New York Stock Exchange specialist firm. Hantman has been with SIG since 1997, most recently as co-risk manager for SIG Specialists.

*ThinkEquity Partners has hired a slew of position and sales traders over the past five months. On the position trading side, the San Francisco-based boutique hired Aidan Whitehead, Aaron Travis and Matt Delia. Whitehead and Travis are from Wells Fargo Securities. Delia joined from Thomas Weisel. On the sales trading side, in San Francisco, the firm hired Andrew Gross and Mark Scarmato. Gross was most recently with CIBC. Scarmato, a 25-year veteran, joined from Susquehanna. In New York, ThinkEquity hired Yves Lefebvre and Ryan Gately. Lefebvre was most recently with Brean Murray. Gately joined from Thomas Weisel.
