Prominent Pro Exits From Bernstein

By Staff Reports

Matthew Andresen, former high-profile head of the Island ECN, surprised the trading world with his recent departure from Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. Andresen had been serving as Bernstein's global trading chief.

Ironically, Andresen had recently spoken at the STA's Mid-winter meeting in Chicago on "Extreme Makeover: Which Players Are Shaping Up to Be Survivors. His colorful talk on market structure, chock full of witty anecdotes, was well received by traders who often snoozed through other sessions.

Reports suggested that Andresen never fit in well with Bernstein's culture. Bernstein declined comment.
