*Nick Savona returned to his old home, TD Newcrest, as a vice president of international trading. He recently resigned from ITG Canada.

*Burlington Capital Markets named James Ross as managing director of institutional sales and call market trading. Ross joins Burlington following more than a decade in upper management at Instinet.

*Rick Ketchum is leaving Nasdaq to join Citigroup's Salomon Smith Barney unit as general counsel. As widely reported, his departure from Nasdaq, where he was president, follows the appointment of Robert Greifeld, a top Sungard executive, who succeeded him in that post. Greifeld has the additional role of CEO. Ketchum was one of the unsuccessful contenders to succeed Wick Simmons at Nasdaq. Ketchum is a former director of the division of market regulation at the Securities and Exchange Commission. He joined the NASD in 1991 and was named Nasdaq president in 2000.

*Schwab Capital Markets expanded its institutional equities trading and sales team. Angelo Antonucci joined as head floor broker of SCM's operations at the New York Stock Exchange. Antonucci was previously with Bear, Stearns. John M. O'Neill joined as a senior listed trader from Bear, Stearns. Richard Striefler joined as a senior institutional trader and sector head. He was previously head OTC trader at S.G. Cowen. Striefler reports to Larry Leibowitz, executive vice president of equities. Matthew O'Hara joined as an institutional OTC trader, having also traded at S.G. Cowen, where he was assigned to the block desk. James Reidy joined as senior sales trader from Merrill Lynch. James Smith joined as a senior sales trader in SCM's Boston office. Smith was previously with Bear, Stearns. Jerry Filippini joined as a sales trader. He was with Goldman Sachs and Spear, Leeds, Kellogg. John Friebely and Seth Gollin joined as sales traders from CIBC World Markets. Leucio Iacobelli joined as a sales trader. He was previously in broker dealer sales at Knight Securities. John Comerford joined as head of quantitative trading and research in SCM's electronic program trading operations. Comerford was previously a portfolio manager at Symphony Asset Management.

*Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein expanded its New York and London portfolio trading teams. In New York, the bank hired Tom Jardine from Deutsche Bank as head of U.S. portfolio trading; John Andretta from Merrill Lynch as a senior arbitrage trader; and Michael Brocking, also from Merrill Lynch as a director responsible for global customer coordination. In London, it signed Zachary Tuckwell, former head of UK and European portfolio trading at Merrill Lynch to head up this business in the U.K. and Europe; Silvio Lotufo from Merrill Lynch as a director of quantitive research; and Dimitri Dardanis from Schroder Salomon Smith Barney as a senior sales trader.

*John Howard was formally appointed as CFO of Knight Trading Group. Howard, who joined the firm in 1998, succeeds Robert Turner, who retired after some eight years at Knight.

*Thomas Kloet was named chief operating officer of Fimat USA, a unit of Fimat Group. Fimat is the global brokerage unit of France's Societe Generala Group. Kloet is the former CEO of the Singapore Exchange.

*Doug Henderson joined SoundView as head of sales trading. Henderson was most recently a senior sales trader at J.P. Morgan. Prior to that, he worked with Salomon Brothers as a sales trader, Montgomery Asset Management as a buyside trader and at Henderson Brothers on the New York Stock Exchange.

*Harborside+ hired Thomas Logan and Carolyn Lewis as domestic sales traders. Logan, who had a career as a senior sales trader at ABN Amro, was most recently at C.E Unterburg, Towbin. Lewis was also most recently a former sales trader at ABN Amro.
