As an organization we have to make sure the regulators in Washington do not dictate trading that benefits only one type of investor. We have to make sure that we take care of all investors and that one group does not have an unfair advantage.'

Why He's An Activist

Living in the Midwest I was somewhat in the dark about some of the issues. STA gave me a viable way to know more about the regulatory issues. That's why I joined the STA.'

Attracting the Buyside

People like Stephen O'Neil, Mary McDermott-Holland, and Lisa Utasi are talking to the buyside for the STA. Bottom line: If the buyside can learn and become more proficient at their job because of the STA, they will become active participants in our association. If you add value, people will come. If you don't add value, you may get them to join initially, but they are not going to stay very long.'
