More Commissions on Nasdaq Trades?

Nasdaq trading firms are torn between charging commissions and making a spread. As Wall Street switches to decimal pricing, some firms say they will charge commissions on more block trades while others say they are sticking with the spread in net trading.

According to an informal poll conducted by Traders Magazine, such firms as ABN AMRO, C.E. Unterberg Towbin, and Salomon Smith Barney plan to continue with their net-trading policy. Other firms, including Adams, Harkness & Hill and Fleet Trading, remain undecided.
